I’d like to share with everyone one of the most underrated pop punk bands I have ever fallen in love with. Freshman 15 is a pop punk band from Atlanta, Georgia. They were formed in 2002 but were originally named Xzamen. They changed their name to Freshman 15 in 2007 and that’s when they started getting noticed. In 2008 they released their EP “5 Way to get to Third Base” and StandBy Records signed the band for a full-length record. Their debut album, “Throw up Your Hands for One Night Stands”, was released on January 20, 2009. The band toured in support of the album for most of 2009. The band almost had some member changes in 2009. In 2010 they released another EP “Talk of the Town”. They played the Vans Warped Tour in 2011. After a few more band member changes they released their second full length album “Here’s to Feeling Good”in 2012.

Davey Fortner is the lead singer, song writer, and only original member left in the band. I’m not sure what is going to happen in the future for Freshman 15 but I can promise you that I do not want them to go away any time soon.

Fortner, writes whiney pop punk songs about girls and a few song about how the music scene has drastically changed. They are one of the only pop punk bands that plays the same kind of pop punk that they were influenced by. It’s all about lip rings, dickies, trucker hats, and tube socks for these boys.

Check out a couple of their songs below:
