Today I was listening to a local radio station in the St. Louis area, 106.5 The Arch. They play a variety of different music. Anywhere from classic rock, to 80’s pop and current top 40 hits. While listening to this station I heard a lot of songs that made me think “Damn! I never listen to this kind of music enough it’s so good!” Then I noticed it was all older “classic” rock songs that I was pumped up about. Most parents that were into rock and roll when they were younger pass it on to their children. There are songs that we have known our whole lives because our parents listened to them. It is very rare that you meet someone that doesn’t know every word to Bon Jovi’s “Livin On A Prayer” or Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”
There are two classic rock artists that I go completely crazy over when I hear them on the radio. They are Eric Clapton and Bryan Adams. I usually freak out when Journey’s “Open Arms” or “Faithfully” come on the radio but If I hear Eric Clapton or Bryan Adams nothing else matters. Today Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” came on the radio and it was the first time I heard that song in I don’t even know how long it has been. I was just in awe about how much I love that song. I knew I wanted to go home and write about Eric Clapton right away, haha. I didn’t hear any Bryan Adams today, :(, but his song “I Do It For You” has been one of my favorite songs since I was 5 years old.
But really… is it safe to say that everyone loves Classic Rock? Is that way it’s played at most bars and weddings? I guess so!
